Maculopapular rash on my 16 year old daughter - any experience?

Hi, My daughter has been feeling rough for about a week, a couple of weeks ago she had a mild flu, seemed to get mostly better, then declined. Her neck is lumpy, her temp is around 39. She's achey and tired and has a sore throat and diarreah (only just). She hasn't eaten much for 3 or 4 days.

The GP said it's a virus with a maculopapular rash, to stay away from people and rest.

I'm a worrier, this daughter had meningitis when she was three, a bone cyst when she was twelve and anorexia (ongoing, but well under control).

Has anybody got any experience of this and can put my mind at rest please? Our GP has some funny ideas - I'm wheat intolerant and I went for advice because my symptoms were worse - he suggested a wheat rich diet with loperamide so I can still go to work, then tests after two months..... I haven't done it!
