My dd is struggling to find a job, but is a lazy cow at home too. Just wondered how much other people give their teens to get through the week? My dd is 17 and at college part time.
thanks

Mine have all managed to find a p/t job at 16 (now 17,18 and 19.. 18 yr old working full time ) but I think they were quite lucky.

At 15 I gave them their child benefit. I felt it was a fair amount and a good way for them to learn to budget . I have continued to buy all the household stuff..toiletries, tampons etc etc but makeup..they buy..ditto clothes unless it's birthday/xmas. I think it helped them as they realised I could only give them what I had for them, if that makes sense!

DS2 has autism and LDs and is very unlikely to get a p/t job at 16 (if ever Sad and he has a similar portion of his disability allowance even tho he doesn't need it..just so he can learn about money.

Mine found the best way to find jobs was online.. McDonalds (good employers too!) the hunt was tedious but they all persisted and eventually found work, and then the child benefit stopped .. I am using DD2's to pay for extra A level tuition as she was ill and missed a large amount of time last year!

Once they had p/t jobs I expected them to buy their own bus passes etc although I am still Mum's taxi!!
