Hi all

Have previously posted re daughter-sex once with condom and now no period-3 or 4 weeks late. However, we have done four tests including one at Doctor's and all negative. Now had blood test results tomorrow. Any thoughts?

It may be stress on her part that's causing her periods to be halted? It sounds very unlikely that she's pregnant. Similar thing happened to me when I lost my virginity. Was terrified of being pregnant and I missed a period too.

mrscoleridge · 02/11/2011 18:02

Thanks for that Dolly-hope you are right

I'd echo dolly and say it's probably the stress of it all. Hope she's ok.

BertieBotts · 02/11/2011 18:04

It could be stress as Dolly says, or it might just be that her cycle is still quite irregular and easily disrupted.

I'm sure if the blood test also comes back negative the doctors will either follow up or tell her what to look out for.

mrscoleridge · 02/11/2011 18:08

Yes I hope you are all right. Just frustrating not knowing

How long have her cycles been regular for prior to this?

I do think though, that stress is the most likely cause of it - or should I say 'lack of it'.

mrscoleridge · 02/11/2011 18:20

Generally regularish to this point

Am sure she's ok. If she's anything like me, once the wicked witch rears her head she'll be so terrified of a repeat she won't have sex again for another year! Grin

Ratata · 02/11/2011 19:40

When I lost my virginity my period was also late that month, I had only done it once and with a condom.

DaydreamDolly · 03/11/2011 11:29

Did you get the blood test results today mrscoleridge?

mrscoleridge · 03/11/2011 16:09

Yes negative

Great news Wine

Hi all

Update on this thread. Still no period even though blood tests negative. Any thoughts? Freaking out now

Lots of possible reasons for missing period.

How old is she?
Is she usually regular?
Has she had other blood test apart from pregn test?
How long has she been menstruating for?

Lots of young girls will miss periods every now and then for no apparant reasons - some will have 'anovulatory' cycles ie not ovulate every month, therefore not have a period.

If she is sexually active, ?consider other contraception some of which can regulate her cycle as well if that is a concern.
Don't fret on here - go to see GP and discuss further.

Hope she is ok.

mrscoleridge · 08/11/2011 23:30

She is 15 usually pretty regular for about 18 months. Have seen GP for blood test came back negative and 'no further action'. Sexually active once only with condom-4 negative urine tests too including one at doctor's

It's probably just the stress of the whole situation.

I think you need to talk to her (as you have probably already done) about another form of contraception as well as a condom so that she doesn't go through this stress next time.

Then let it go, let life get back to normal (as much as it can).

PacificDogwood · 09/11/2011 22:51

In a teenager a missed period or 2 is not usually anything to worry about - as long as pregnancy is ruled out. Which it really is if she had a blood test for bHCG (the pregnancy hormone).

Like I said, if you have ongoing concerns or she has problems with her periods (pain, flooding, distressed by irregular bleeds) take her back.

And, tbh and IME, if she has had sex once, she is quite likely to do it again, so really look into more reliable contraception - lots of options.

Seriously, go back and talk to GP. Or FPC.

I split up with my bf when I was a teenager and my period was 6 weeks late. I'm sure it was the stress of thinking I was pg.
