God why is my dd so fucking selfish!

she has just come back from barcelona last friday, out for lunch yesterday, then out with her mates in the afternoon, we go on our family holiday on thursday.
She has been asked if she wants to go to london saturday to queue for tickets for something, no guarantee of tickets so could be a wasted journey.
I told her she couldnt go because we have other plans, and cant afford another trip between the 2 holidays and she doesnt have enough money left to pay herself.

To which she replied 'i would rather have not gone to barcelona or on holiday, i would rather have gone to queue for tickets'. I am soooo and upset, how can she be o ungrateful and selfish.

I told her i will never take her away again (normally do a couple of weekend breaks with the dcs, plus holiday) and if she wants to come she can pay for herself.

I know it sounds harsh, but why do we bust a gut taking them to lovely places and on little trips to be told that

I agree too. She won't remember saying it next week - it doesn't have anything like the significance it would if an adult had said it. Because they are as opinionated as us and speak as clearly, I often find I react to my teenagers as if they were adults - until they do something like this and I remember they aren't. She's just pissed off she can't do everything she wants to and is throwing a strop over it - don't let it upset you.

It is the whole drama queen bit. Don't play to it.
Alice is right, if you were to mention it next week she might even deny she said it. She is cross and throwing her toys out of the pram-they have a lot in common with toddlers sometimes!
Let it wash over you. You will never get them to be grateful-or not until they are older and look back.
