DD17 and DD15 each get £30pcm paid directly into their bank accounts.
Out of this, they have to buy their own make-up and accessories, buy birthday presents for their friends, save up for Chrustmas presents for the family and pay for their social life - cinema tickets, coffees, trip to Wagamamas etc.
In addition, we pay their mobile phone contract and hair (highlights and trim).
I buy their school uniforms and a basic wardrobe including underwear, jeans, a coat, couple of tops, one dress, a cardi, replace knackered stuff etc. They pay for any extra stuff. My budget is H and M/ Zara/ Primark/ Top Shop. If they want something high-end then we go halves.
They both like clothes for birthday/Christmas too.
DD17 has a Saturday job in a shop which pays about £130pcm - she's earned £1000 since she started 8 months ago!). She's quite cautious with money and a good little saver but then has the money to treat herself to something nice/ go out and enjoy herself if she wishes.
I deliberately haven't stopped her £30pcm allowance because I don't want her to feel that she's being penalised for working.
DD15 babysits occasionally but it's not regular or reliable enough to depend on. She's desperate to get a job but at fifteen it's difficult because you're competing with older teenagers and most places prefer 16 plus. as soon as she breaks up for summer she's going to sort her CV out and go and blitz all the hair-dressers and cafes to see if she can get something.
