Hi. Not sure if this is right place to post, but 18-year-old stepson is currently having some very real problems emotionally. He is very down, listless, rudderless and has no motivation.
We had a chat at the weekend and after much soul-searching it came out that he is very angry about his childhood. My DH (his father) and his Mum split up when he was not even a year old, but for the bulk of his childhood there were some horrendous arguments which he was privvy to :(. His Mum, on occasion, physically punched and kicked DH in front of him and he is (underestandably) carrying a lot of resentment for a childhood that was so tarnished.
I suspect some form of counselling is the way forward, but not sure where to start looking for it. In the meantime could anyone recomment some reading that would help either him or us to know the right way to start helping him?
