Question re: Cervical Smear Tests for teenage DDs, post HPV vaccination programme

When should a young woman start having cervical smear tests? I though it was when you became sexually active.

If our teenage daughters have had the HPV vaccine, though, does this mean that they will not need to have smear tests?

My DD17 and I were wondering about this - does anyone know?

They will need to have smear tests - some info here. The screening programme won't include them until they reach the minimum age for inclusion where you live. List here.

If you live in England, screening starts at 25. Smear tests are realy important even if they have had the hpv vaccination as it will only reduce the risk, not remove it

Aha...

So, for my DDs it'll be every three years from the age of 25, even though they have had the HPV vaccination.

Thank you tibpot and CMOTdibbler for your helpful replies.
