DD1 wants to go away with 3 girlfriends, all 17 to Malia this summer Hmm. Having done the research and picked somewhere quiet to stay, yet still 5-10 mins walk from the nightlife, one/two of the other mums are wary of them going there because of the reputation (also it's cosing £500pp self catering for one week Shock)
Does anyone have any suggestions of a) other places that will will cheaper but still have decent, but somewhat quieter nightlife and b) which travel companies will accept them (under 18) So far I've come up with Thomas Cook and Olympic (who will also give you the online discount if you phine them to book). They both need written approval from all parents concerned.
I used to work abroad as a rep so I realise what it's all about over there but could do with some help!!!

DD2 is going to Malia this summer with 4 girlfriends. They will all be 18 and its an after A levels trip - its £285 pp for a weeks self catering (Shock at £500). They are going at the very beginning of sept as its cheaper then and they are all hopefully off to university so don't need to be back at school then. They booked through First Choice.

DD2 will be 18 for this trip and I would have been a bit wary of her going last year.

My daughter went away after L6 so she and her friends were all 17, they went to Palma Nova (just outside Magaluf). One of the girls did have a relative who lived nearby which was reassuring for us but we had no problems booking as far as I recall and the agents would not have been aware of that.

At 18 she and her friends went to Turkey but I can't remember where.

My advice would be to book through a travel agent you trust. Our girls were almost talked into a deal by an agent with a large high street company but our local agent investigated and thought the hotel was unsuitable. They found a more suitable one for us and the girls had a great time

dd1 went last year to Kavos, she was 18 and it was after her A levels. I can't say I was thrilled she was going, but they had a good time, with no mishaps at all. The funny thing is, this year they are going away and are looking for much quieter places as they said it was too much, but it was the thing to do so they did it.

My advice wold be to leave them alone to make their own decisions mistakes

Gran Canaria is cheaper and slightly quieter - although still night life going on till 7am. Had a brilliant time. Three of us went (all aged 17) 5 years ago.

We went with first choice, no problems about age.
