apparently I am the only parent who thinks that their 13 year old should be in bed before 11 on a school night, who views xbox as a privilege which can be taken away, who doesn't immediately fuck off when told to "leave me alone"

My 13 yr old went to bed at 9.30.....:)however he is very easy because he is autistic with learning diffs and weak muscles and basically is ready for bed at 8pm..I look on this as compensation for having to live with his obsessions...:)

my others (16,17,18) on the other hand.... I rarely stay up as long as they do! Trying to get the 16 yr old into bed early enough that she WAKES for 6th form is a nightmare!

Stay firm... you are in the right, except lets face it, they never leave us alone when we want some peace:)

A 14 and a 15 year old here, and they both go to bed by ten on a school night- and even at weekends, but I am prepared to concede I am being a bit evil on that score.

Wehn our DD's were 15 they went to bed between 10 and 10.30 on school nights but were allowed to decide for themselves on weekends and holidays. At 16 they were allowed to decide for themselves on school nights as well. But at 13 they were usualy in bed by about 9,30 unless they were doing anything specific.

DD (14) has to go to bed at 10pm on a school night. She huffs and puffs and delays it by poncing around in the bathroom/kitchen until I yell at her. TV off and I turn the router off since I found her on the laptop under her bedclothes one night.

At the weekend she can stay up as late as she likes, but she is generally pretty good and is asleep by midnight or so, as she always has plans at the weekends so has to get up.

Tell your DS that my 12 year old has to be in bed by 9.30 and he is only allowed to play x-box at weekends (unless he earns an extra half hour for every half hour of English tuition he does with me over and above his homework!). Apparently we are the only parents o the whole planet who restrict X-box access.

At the moment, if he is being mouthy, we are threatening to speak like Ned Flanders when his friends come round.

the ludicrous thing is that he follows me around the house to tell me to leave him alone

DD2 15 next month doesn't get to sleep until about 11.30 but I was the same still am, I can have 2 or 3 hours sleep and be ok.
DS 16 [ASD] has never slept now he has outdoor education on a Monday he's sleeping by 10 wish he had it every day
