Was my phone number “sold” ?

I know the title may sound weird but over last few months I have received calls from individuals saying they had missed calls from this number (my phone number) even though I never made these calls and don’t know who these recipients are.
is it possible that my phone number was “sold “ ?
who would make the calls? 🤔

i don’t know about it being sold but odd things def happen with phones. I often ring my son’s mobile using the number stored in my phone - & an old lady answers. Same one every time!! Glitch in the matrix!!

It isn’t necessarily spoofing, which is where someone would be masking there number using yours in some way. It could be though.

It could also have been sold if you’ve not unticked a box somewhere. Could have been sold from a hacked list.

It could also be a scam and they’re repeatedly calling you with the view to you engaging in some form. A type of social engineering. Eventually they call and they’re from your phone company and want to sort this out, log on to a certain URL/Give them certain info etc.

Could he a bunch of things. I would ignore the calls.

I’ve had this a few times - it’s not spoofing though. It’s really weird.

someone has called saying ‘I’ve just missed a call from your number’ but I hadn’t called anyone. Weird.
