How to unblock “No Caller ID” calls

Hi, would anyone be able to help?

We were due to have a final feedback call from a NHS right to choose provider called Clinical Partners, but repeated issues meant it couldn’t go ahead.

Their clinician can only call from a Number Withheld number, and both my daughters and my phones wouldn’t ring or let us answer - instead all the calls just went immediately to voicemail. We can just see a list of “missed calls”, and increasingly confused voice mail messages. We were able to call their main office number (who kept trying to help), and could answer their call when they called back, just none of the calls from the nurse practitioner.

We have done all the bits that Google suggested to ensure that the right settings on our phones are selected. I’ve also done a software update to iOS 18.7. Just not sure what else to try, or if we will have the same issues on the rescheduled time in a few days time.

Both our phones are older iPhones (SE2 and iPhone 13). One is with Vodafone and one with Giffgaff.

Any advice would be really welcome.

I don't think there is any way.

Have you silenced calls from unknown numbers? I did this once and kept missing calls from withheld numbers. Don’t ask me how I did it- or how I undid it! Maybe something in focus?

Settings -> Phone
scroll down to Screen Unknown Callers and change the ticked option to Never. There’s also an ‘ask reason for calling’ when they can give their name and reason for calling which will be passed on to you. Yours is probably set to Silent.

this changed with the upgrade to iOS 18. I’ve upgraded to 26 and this might have more options than you have.
