I certainly do! Almost 21 years ago. Was pregnant with DD

TheNinthLock · 30/05/2025 19:20

Yes. It was just after - but not because of - the SWMNBN debacle.

Yes , I do , it was after Christmas just gone & this might sound weird but I don’t care , it’s the truth 🤷🏻‍♀️😊 …
Was on dating App too much & more often than not , talking to one’s who I ended up not suited to ..
I love Mumsnet & that’s what I scroll on now & dip in & out of threads 😊 ..
Mumsnet has saved me from loads of Assholes 😂

Yes, I signed up 21 years ago just after I'd started a new job where I was responsible for the administration of the Nursery Grant (as we used to call it). I suspected my employer was bending the rules and wanted to check what other nurseries were doing. A Google search brought up a Mumsnet conversation. I lurked for a while before signing up a few weeks later.
Mumsnet has changed so much in the time since I joined it.

Similar time for me. DC1 was a toddler - he's now 24 😲 Where did all the time go? I've learned so much here though, and it's been such a source of help, advice and entertainment.

I've used for years just by googling and adding MN at the end of my question just for recipes and domestic advice.

My first memory of using MN app regularly was a thread on 'the most boring thing your other half has said'. I was in bed and DH trying to sleep. It was so funny I had tears rolling down my cheeks and had to go to the bathroom to continue reading.

Unfortunately I've not been able to find it since then.

After I had my son last year, I had so many issues after a C section. Mumsnet helped me alot

bibliotek · 30/05/2025 20:41

I joined. I was was so down and asked for advice on a very topic and had a poster repeatedly accuse me of being a troll or making up what I said by analysing every word I said. Completely derailed what I needed.

FlightCommanderPRJohnson · 30/05/2025 20:42

I was due to have a hysterectomy and looking online for people's experiences, Some threads came up in Google, so I read them, and then saw some AIBUs and was curious ...

Got properly hooked after the procedure when I had nothing to do but lie on the sofa reading or browsing the internet (bliss), and soon created an account.

bibliotek · 30/05/2025 20:43

Then I joined back when I had a baby - I had a very difficult pregnancy experience and Mumsnet helped me so much. I’ll never forget that kindness because I was so alone and found other people who had been through it.

ElizabethVonArnim · 30/05/2025 21:54

I joined about 18 years ago. Can’t quite believe that. Some madwoman called Mitmoo had a huge thread going where she thought she was perfectly entitled to have huge security lights on all night for her kid to camp in the garden, despite neighbours’ concerns. Then I remember a thread from the summer - might have been a bit later - where a woman’s husband moved out while she was at work and took everything that was ’his’, including all the jars of chutney and so forth. Then it appeared that the woman was pregnant and so was his affair partner. I was totally gripped, although recounting it back now, I wonder whether it was a troll because the drip feed of shocks was pretty constant.

Blanketpolicy · 30/05/2025 23:38

Joined in 2004 shortly after ds was born and nipple torn to shreds, crying in pain every feed and HV no help. MN posters sorted me out with some lansinoh which turned things around quickly without it I would not have been able to bf ds

First pregnancy around 20 years ago. I was put off at first as others seemed to know how to be pregnant better than I did. I felt so new to it and unprepared. I came back to MN when exH left me with 2 young DC and found incredible support. I now see through MN, on the whole, how strong women can be in support of other women.

15 years ago during pregnancy

Loads of advice, chat and laughs ever since

Hope the elderly Korean lady is still with us!!

BIWI · 30/05/2025 23:54

Why is this in Tech Tips? And why ‘the Mumsnet’?!

BrightWolf · 31/05/2025 00:35

I joined around 16 years ago. I was on the bounty boards first which I’m guessing doesn’t exist anymore. Posters there would always mention ‘the other place’. I was so intrigued what the other place was but too embarrassed to ask as everyone else seemed to just know. Then somehow eventually figured out they were talking about mumsnet. Came over for a look and have been here ever since!

piscofrisco · 31/05/2025 06:52

Yes, 18 and a half ago when I was pregnant with DD2. It’s been a life saver and a source of information and entertainment ever since.

I think it's about 20 years now and Bad Mothers' Club had shut down so I was looking for another group. The threads were hilarious, there were some seriously funny posters on here and I became a Cod groupie.
