Can you talk me through getting a new sim card

Could anyone talk me through step by step getting a new phone sim card.

I'm using the existing phone and want to change from Vodafone (Contract finished in 2023 and the price has increased again) to Smarty.

How do I keep the same number ? I know there is something called a pac code. But if you could break it down in simple steps for me I would appreciate it. Thanks 🙂

Phone Vodafone.
Ask for pac.
Phone smarty.
Select deal you want.
Give them pac.
Pay.
