Google family link vs ios parental control

Eldest DC got my DWs old iPhone just before she started at secondary school. DW set the phone up with ios parental controls.

I had planned to do the same with my android phone for DD2 later this year although using Google family link.

Seems DW wants to have them both on iPhones so she is able to review handsets. Which will mean we have aquire a second hand one or use FIL's very old iPhone

I would really do with some real life opinions of both systems

We use family link for the DCs. It's fairly flexible, DS has ADHD and copes well with his restrictions, if he knew our PIN he could override it but I don't know it (I just control it from my phone).
We actually use YouTube Kids now and manually add any videos he wants as well because even with age restrictions the regular YouTube is full of GTA and Fortnite and you can't block channels.
