Length of time for design

I booked a tattoo a few months ago and told the artist what I wanted in it, where I wanted it and a rough idea of what it would look like based on other ones I had seen.

With a month to go should I now message to ask if she has drawn some designs up so we can tweak them?

I have only had 2 from a different artist which were a lot smaller so easier to know exactly what I wanted.

Wow, really? I'm be so stressed to have to wait till just a few days ahead. What if they have misunderstood the brief?

That's my feeling too is that I've asked for specific flowers, said I want a similar design to something she had previously done which was floral but with the specific flowers I had sent along with some vines.

I think I'll give it a week and then send a message just to double check she has understood what I want, reconfirm placement and see if she has designed anything yet.

Who is the artist? Have you been to them before?

I've found some artists don't finish the design until a couple days before.

Some don't send you a design at all and draw it on you when you're there rather than using a stencil.

Is the artist a well known London floral artists starting with H?

No, I'm in the Midlands. Never been to this person before and only had 2 tattoos previously. I picked this one because she had done a tattoo on someone which is similar to what I was looking for.

My tattoo guy asks for the design via WhatsApp, then you book the appointment. Pay a deposit so if you don't turn up he's not out of pocket too much

Quite normal not to have the design finished until a few days before. Tattoo artists are well used to clients cancelling so they won't waste time doing a design too far ahead.
