Size of letters on a tattoo

I'm having a tattoo refresh and adding a four word phrase in a curly font

Does the lettering have to be a minimum size - I'm thinking too small and 10 years down the line it'll look smudgey . But I don't want a huge script on my back

It'll be on my shoulder so I can't read it anyway !

Go for a bit larger so it's still legible in a decade. Clean lines, nothing too elaborate.

Smudgy writing tattoos look pretty crap.
