Have been bathing new piercings twice a day for 3 weeks now.
How long to keep this up?

Where are the piercings?

Trinity69 · 02/04/2024 22:47

I do not and never have. My piercings get cleaned when I get cleaned and I shower daily. Huge fan of the LITHA method and never had an issue.

In my experience, piercings are best left alone as much as possible.

Tattooloo · 02/04/2024 22:58

Leave alone! Do not clean like you're doing. Just left a bit of soapy water run over them in the shower

Nose & nipples. I read 12 weeks but that seems excessive!

Leave them. They only need cleaning in the shower.

Nicetobenice67 · 03/04/2024 10:18

My travis in the shower then spray morning and night with salt water

its good you're looking after them, I did mine once a day for about 2 months and then obviously in the shower too

I always thought the correct answer was "until they're healed". And that can take months or even years in areas that are subject to lots of movement like the navel. The bathing is to prevent infection. You shouldn't need to do it too often but should do it if it looks at all red. And the less you can touch and play with it or move it around the better.

I have had a lot of piercings in my time and am also a huge fan of leave them alone. A quick rinse with clean water in the shower is generally enough.

What did your piercer recommend?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/04/2024 21:06

The info I have is twuce daily with a sterile saline wash but not to touch it , only dry with non fluffy gauze .
It doesn't say how long for , mainly advice about redness/swelling/when ti contact .

I have pretty much left my newest one (Tragus) alone and just dried after a shower
