Tatting 40s and beyond pain

Was chatting to my artist yesterday while having a cover up.

In my 20s I'd sit for 8hrs on my back or calves with not too much bother. Painful of course but I coped, and would sometimes go out drinking after.

Now in my 40s, holy shit, anything more than 4 hours kills me, and it can't be too hot, I can't be tired/on my period/ovulating. Pretty much anything other than tip top condition and I'm in tears after 4hrs!

Is this happening to anyone else? My artist is only 30 and is feeling the difference to her 20s.

I've had all my tattoos post 40 and although not comfortable, only two (out of 17) have been unbearable, finger and right near my elbow!

Also someone who had tattoos post 40. I'm obviously very strange because I don't feel any pain at all, get quite a high during the process and am a PITA because I get giggling fits and can't keep still. Happily sit there for hours on end.

I'm 50 and definitely the last few tattoos I've got have been much shorter.
I'm thinking of getting one bigger one and leave it,cause I'm not able anymore 😭
