Armpit tattoo - is it really that bad?

After 4 failed attempts with COVID and an RTA I'm going to get tatted on Friday - its an armpit and rib piece in dotwork.

I have lidocaine and clingfilm at the ready, so is there anyone else who's got it done?

PS There will be pictures once it has healed but after the brusing has gone - it'll look like a badly done watercolour tattoo first!

I thought getting my wrist and ankle tattooed was bloody agony. It's bad enough getting my armpits waxed.

Would love to see a pic. But I did cringe a little seeing thst I am currently sporting huge swollen lymph notes in my armpit, and it's fecking sore.

I know that isn't helpful so can you perhaps take paracetamol or something beforehand?

Don't know about armpit, but ribs are pretty horrible.

Many artists will not tattoo if you've used lidocaine/emla etc, as it makes the skin rubbery and harder to tattoo on, which also affects healing.

Have you checked with them that they'll do it?

I'd suggest asking them to use bactine once they've started tattooing instead. Lidocaine wears off after about 45 mins too.

It's finished for now - geometric dot work so I might get it fiddled with in future but from what I can see it looks good! No photos until its got past the wet stage.
It hurt more around the armpit - strangely the middle of armpit right above the notes was almost painless!

RIght now it feels a bit like sunburn and nettle rash. I think I'm a bit sensitive to Dermalize - its worse at the edges. I will post a photo but it's still a bit scabby so the newer stuff still looks a but garish.
