Tattooing and paper towels

I get it, they need to keep the area clean and dry but FOR FUCK SAKE, could they not dab instead of dragging it across the wound?

My mate is my tattooist - owns his own proper studio, has a fabulous repertoire from 20yrs of work and he went to fine art school. His work is amazing and I adore my latest piece but... I could quite cheerfully have punched him 3hrs into a day session just for the bastard paper towels - it hurts MORE than the bloody needles!

AIBU?

No because it wouldn't get rid of the ink by dabbing it Hmm.

Well, they could get rid of the ink by wiping it down with a paper towel wet with green soap instead of the dry rub. That feels very soothing and some tattooers do that - not sure why they all don't tbh.

Is it dry? My tattooist doesn't use a dry one, that would hurt.
