Tattoos and piercings on parents

I started another thread asking for viewpoints on tattoos and piercings in childcare and got a mixed set of reactions, which I fully expected. This has led me to question the viewpoints on ratios and piercings on parents in my essay. If anyone as any thoughts please reply. Thank you in advance, and have a lovely day 😊

Whut?

Tattoos are on your skin. They don't affect reproduction.

vayab1 · 08/03/2018 11:36

I understand this but some people don’t agree with tattoos and piercings on child carers and so I was wondering if this was the same for parents. I of course have my own viewpoint on this matter but as I don’t want any replies to be biased I am not giving it. Thank you @thequeenofwands

My husband has several tatoos and piercings and strangely they have never had any impact on his abilitys as a father to our 4 DC.
If anything my kids love using him as human paper and colouring in his tatoos and drawing new ones.

I answered your other thread
I don't have any issues with piercings and tattoos and don't think it matters whether parents have them or not and I don't judge parents who do have them
Unless they had something obviously racist or homophobic

upsideup , I also get coloured in by children.

It's weirdly relaxing.

Makes no difference as long as your able to take care of the child these days everyone’s got tattoos only problem I can see is if the child was afraid of them then it’s not beneficial for the child

I have a facial piercing, if anything I'd say I get treated better by the nursery staff than when I didn't have one.

YerAuntFanny · 15/03/2018 22:33

Neither bother me.

One of my daughter's favourite teachers at nursery has a full sleeve which is on show as they wear short sleeved polo shirts as uniform.

Myself and DH also have tattoos. Can't say it's ever impacted on either of our kids.

I have tattoos and some piercings, and am pregnant with our first baby. I have never had anyone say anything to me, I can't see why they would! I'd be very shocked if someone decided I would be a bad parent because of them!

I have a professional job (not childcare) and it's never been an issue with my career either.

I just don't see what difference it would make, each to their own.

CraftyGirly90 · 24/03/2018 13:12

A couple of my friends have tattoos and are parents. The tattoos have never had any impact on the kids at all. My dad had some from when he was in the army and they never bothered me or my siblings. In fact I used to love tracing the outlines with my finger as a kid.

I have 4 tattoos myself and am a homecarer and they've never impacted my work at all, in fact when I got my most recent one some of my service users asked about them

Fluffypurpleslipper · 24/03/2018 13:15

I have no issue with it.

Chocolala · 24/03/2018 13:18

Unfinished ones are great colouring books.

Don’t have any myself, but unless it’s overtly racism/misogynistic/etc, or the artist was crap, I don’t care.

There is a study somewhere (I've seen it referred to in a respectable article) that states that women with genital piercings are treated 'less favourably' by doctors.
