Help! Guinea pig ate tiny bit of steak off floor

Cleaning out guinea pigs and they were scurrying around dining room floor. One started munching on what we think was stony but of steak that was on floor.
this was around an hour ago. It seems as though it is struggling to eat now, as if the food is stuck in its teeth or mouth. We’ve tried to encourage it to drink to no avail and we cannot for the life of us get it to open its mouth.
it’s having a go at dry food and munching on hay but seems frustrated trying to eat some celery leaves, as though they’re stuck in its mouth.
Any advice?

Have you got any syringes, u could syringe water into its mouth?
Not a dental issue previous to this? Recently eating well?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/10/2025 21:45

You need to ring your vet for advice @alibali23
I hope the little chap is okay.

alibali23 · 05/10/2025 22:24

Has been eating well and no dental issue. We did the syringe with water. It seems ok. Eating hay. Still struggling with ‘proper’ food.
