Anyone got a Jack Russell with cats?

Love the JR breed so much. But we have two cats and I hear terriers are not good with cats - that they have a high prey drive and could actually kill them. Is this in fact true? Anyone had harmonious relationships between cats and a JR?

We have a cat and often have visitors who bring their JR. Dog and cat ignore each other.

I have a half JRT and two cats;the idiot is terrified of the cats as they batter him if he goes near.

I have a half JRT x chihuahua.

The cat and dog sleep together, I've tried getting two seperate beds so they can have their own space but nope.

They can usually be found washing each other.

Our JRT killed the cat so I'm slightly prejudiced against it.

Poor thing was the runt of the litter though, a more feisty stronger cat would probably keep it in place.

If you have the cat before the puppy you should be fine. My partner's JRT loves his cats - he's grown up with them. My terriers aren't used to cats though, and would definitely harm them. Cat first ... pup next, all should be fine!

Our neighbours had a JR that killed our kitten.
