Are your guinea pigs inside or outside?

Our piggies used to live semi-outside, in a summer house that we heated when it got too cold. Last winter we moved them indoors as electricity was too expensive to keep them warm. They've stayed indoors as it seemed to go from too cold to too hot overnight. We have a guest coming to stay who isn't good with animals and ideally I'd like to put the piggies back in the summerhouse, but is it too cold overnight? This is the forecast. We couldn't turn the heat on but we could microwave some heat pads.

Providing your summer house is dry and non draughty and you give them somewhere to sleep that you can fill with hay (big cardboard box with a couple of doors ) they will be fine at this time of year .

My pigs had a wooden playhouse that we put a wooden sleeping area inside - either a big cupboard that was laid flat and customised with one side removed , or a rabbit hutch on floor level with a door cut out , or a plastic storage box (for garden cushions ) with two doors cut .
Ours came in for winter nights to an unheated small bedroom

You can insulate with cardboard under their floor covering .
I used rubber boot liners too , under the cardboard .
Deep hay is a very good insulator and it'll keep them busy eating .

Make sure the summer house is 100% fox and vermin proof .
