Royal canin Appetite control - cat begs more than ever!!!

This food was recommended to us by the vet. Our cat is five years old and a tiny breed who shouldn’t weigh more than 3.4kg, but unfortunately she is incredibly greedy… she quickly puts on weight if we don’t watch her portion sizes. Of course we have discussed this with the vet who has advised us. We have noticed how every time we feed her royal canin appetite control, she goes CRAZY and pretty much begs non stop. This time it’s so bad that I don’t think we will be able to finish the bag, we will probably throw in the towel and order the other food we alternate with.

posting on the off chance that anyone else has noticed the same thing with this food?

I had the same problem with it. Then when switched to another Royal Canin (weight management) one of my three cats ended up very constipated. The fiber content was too different. We could have lost her and it took months to get her system right again. They are now all 3 on a prescription purina wet food and I only recently re-introduced dry food. They also get a tiny bit of laxative in her food once a day. (It’s too difficult to feed them differently so we had to figure out what would work for all 3.)

I don’t have a solution but wanted to share this. I’m still shocked that going from one type of RC to another could result in such problems.

Oh, and for the reintroduction of dry food I use an automatic feeder and very small portions. It keeps them from harassing me.

I don’t remember ever having a cat cry for food like this prior to covid and working from home.

I think an automatic feeder might be the way to go. And we are never buying the appetite control food again 😂
