Is my rabbit old?

This is my lovely rabbit George. He's 10 years old. Was sold to us as a dwarf mini lop but we think he's a bit on the large side so maybe he's a mini lop.

He's had great health up til recently where he had to go to the vet for something minor which is now sorted. She was amazed at his age and said she'd only seen one rabbit who was older than 10!

On Googling it seems mini/dwarf minis can live well into their teens. I'm confused...I'd like to be prepared for that awful time so just wondering is he really now in his twilight years? He's slowed up quite a lot and would rather be sat on his hutch than running round the garden. His hutch is in the shed so we get him up each morning and pop him outside but he soon returns to just sit up on his hutch and watch the world go by from there. I do love him so much!

Yes he's elderly. And no it is unusual for them to live into their teens. I've had 8 rabbits and 3 dwarfs, 2 died at 10 and 1 made it to 11 but was on medication 3x a day for arthritis by that point.

They’re the most abused pet in the country. They don’t tend to live long with the poor care they generally receive. Yours is clearly looked after so may have a couple more years left in it. I think genetics can make a difference, a lot of these animals sold from pet shops are poorly or even inbred. You may have got lucky with a well bred healthy rabbit.

Ah...thank you @PlantagenetEmbassy . I guess I need to be prepared then 😔. He seems quite happy at the moment. I do worry he's not moving much and is getting quite boney....I think probably a little muscle wasting is at play.
I'm still getting bunny kisses, he comes in every day for cuddles and snuggles with our Golden Retriever which he loves. He's still eating and drinking..loves his bananas, bless him.

Thank you @Aylestone . Yes, breaks my heart to think of sll those poor neglected bunnies just sat in a hutch, never cuddled or let out and forgotten about 😪
He came from a pet section in a garden centre....popped in for a hydrangea and came back with a rabbit 😆....yes, a hardy boy....we have been lucky!!
