Can you help me but a rabbit birthday present?

By BFs are childless by choice and are the most perfect godparents to my DD.

But last year they had an unexpected arrival in the form of a rescue rabbit. He is their baby in every sense. (Fortunately he and DD get along beautifully. DH and I love him as of he was our own.)

We're coming up to his "birthday" and they're having a tea party. I will need a present.

Any suggestions? This is serious business.

You can get awesome toys online. Look on Amazon.

And take him a bouquet of dandelion leaves.

Silkierabbit · 02/02/2022 19:10

Omlet are good, not cheap but good quality. We have their rabbit tunnel, 2 tunnels and middle bit and our rabbit loves it, that was £30. Think there is a cheaper version as well.

AwkwardPaws27 · 02/02/2022 19:11

What's the budget?
If you can splurge a bit, I'd go for a castle or hidey house from somewhere like J&M Bunny Burrows (www.facebook.com/groups/391104445205074/?ref=share) or Manor Pet Housing.

Otherwise a little selection of treats. My boys love their treat dispensing ball (I put their dry food allowance in it) - www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/vetiq-healthy-bites-activity-treat-ball-for-small-animals-assorted

Forage is good (avoid anything containing seeds or grains, there's a lit of less healthy options) - these bags are pretty good - www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/woodlands-blackcurrant-and-apple

Oh, & this was great although they chewed it to bits after a month Grin

Not another bunny! Unless you mean paying the adoption fee for a rescue who can bond them to a suitable partner. Bunny bonding can be tricky Smile

Carrot cottage or hay cube like these? Etsy has some cute rabbit forage boxes which would go down well, or a personalised Christmas tree ornament with the rabbit's name?

Rabbits chew everything, and they’re ungrateful little goofsters because they’re such scaredy cats. They also poo as they eat. They won’t care for blankets or beds. They’ll just chew it to pieces.

Ours loved fresh grass, dandelions, grape leaves.
You can get tunnels and things for them to run through, and houses they can jump in and chew on.
But they won’t care really whatever you get them.

ChaosMoon · 02/02/2022 19:26

So many ideas so quickly! Thank you so much guys. I will finish putting DD to bed and then start looking at the links and Google some of these suggestions. At a brief glance, they look great!

He is actually going to be (hopefully) bonded with another bunny at the end of the month. It's a shame she'll miss his party, but I'm sure they'll have another one to welcome her to her new home.

DD and I haven't taken him a dandelion bouquet since the summer so we'll have to do that as well.

Pets at Home sell a lot of rubbish.

I like these guys:

Or one of these "grazing trays" would be fun:

Also check out Norfolk Feeds on ebay - I like their Bunny Bistro and buy dried forage for mine in bulk 1kg sacks (way better than the tiny bags you get for a similar price in other shops!)
www.ebay.co.uk/str/norfolkfeeds

This is cute, bunnies will LOVE it (excuse the enormous Ebay link)

What a fabulous thread, and what a fabulous friend you are!

ChaosMoon · 07/02/2022 21:04

Thank you all you lovely people!

I've ordered him a beautiful forage mat from Etsy, but it won't arrive in time. So I've also ordered him a Rosewood Boredom Breaker hanging basket as a place holder gift. I will try to remember to take photos so you can see the results of your hard work!

In case any of you want to see the results of your hard work. I spent hours on the links and webpages you referred me to and these are what I came up with. I'm going to bookmark this thread for Christmas.

Very cute !

This is lovely but

Another bunny ?

Do not buy someone a rabbit or animal as a gift! You can't just put one rabbit with another rabbit...

Some good idea though OP

Agree Pets @ Home are rubbish

Marcipex · 11/02/2022 20:37

Carrot bunting

DuckonaBike · 13/02/2022 09:43

Actually they should get another bunny - they are social animals and shouldn’t be kept alone. But you absolutely can’t just put them in together as they will fight! A rescue centre should be able to advise and help with bonding. You could suggest this? Look into places nearby?

Chocomelon · 13/02/2022 20:18

I agree bunnies should be in pairs but it's not responsible to gift someone an animal unprompted

SingToTheSky · 13/02/2022 20:47

Love this thread! We adopted a bunny last week (hope to get her a friend in future, she’s always lived alone so will be very careful!) and I’m very excited to get her some new things to play with!
