I have a young female cat. Suddenly this week there have been lots of cat visitors to our garden. I have seen at least 5 cats that I haven’t seen before. We don’t normally have any other cats in our garden! Our garden is only small and there aren’t any birds nests in there. Is it possible that she wasn’t properly spayed, and that she is ‘in heat’? She is only a year old at most.

You normally know about it if a cat is in heat, they get quite vocal, desperate to go out if an indoor cat, rolling around, they push their arse up as well when stroked if in heat.

We had a cat that was spayed. Each time dh brushed her she curled her tail over her back, put her head down and stuck her bottom in the air. As if the brush was a local tom.

The first time she went to a new cattery they asked us if she were spayed when we collected her. Apparently she fluffed out her fur, batted her eyelashes and called for the 2 weeks, driving all the Toms mental.

I rang the vet, and apparently a little bit of ovarian tissue can be left. She was an outside cat but we never had any problems, just at this one cattery.

Perhaps you have one like Coco!
