Hi!
Just to start with we are due to see the vet tomorrow, we called and they had no slots today and didn’t feel she was an emergency case.
My rabbit is an outside turned inside rabbit, she’s been indoors with us since her mate sadly passed around a year ago, as he was very old.
She herself is 8 and usually free roams the ground floor, which is rabbit proof, so I don’t need to pick her up.
Today I picked her up, to brush her and trim her nails, when I felt a large, soft lump under her skin.
It’s not absolutely not hard, it’s easily moved around under the skin and the skin is a regular colour under the fur. It reminds me of a lipoma I once had on my leg.
She is eating, drinking and hopping around as well as usual, no other signs she’s unwell, though I know rabbits don’t show pain.
We rescued her about 7 years ago, and she isn’t spayed, as both times we tried she almost died from the anaesthetic. Her jabs are up to date.
Does anybody have any previous experience of this sort of thing? Should I be preparing for bad news? I know she’s older, and it’s always harder to treat an older animal, but she’s such a big part of our family and DD1 loves her.
Thanks in advance.
