We've had a pair of gerbils for a couple of weeks now, both have settled well and seem very happy to be handled, interact etc. One is definitely more adventurous and active than the other, and has bags of personality. I've just checked on them before going to bed for the night, and the active one popped out to say hello. I offered her a pumpkin seed, which she took from me in her mouth, then spun round in a 180 circle, waving her tail, came to rest facing me again, sat back on her hind legs, and transferred it to her paws. She didn't start eating it straight away, and I swear she was smiling (I realise how that sounds)
. We have seen her do lots of the behaviours that Google tells me are signs of happiness or contentment (washing, up on back legs with paws apart, she has even given me a nose rub), but I can't find any sign of this "happy dance". Has anyone else seems their furball do this, or is it just coincidence?
Apologies if I sound ever so slightly batty. I haven't had a pet since I was a kid, and I love those little furry bundles
