Do guinea pigs have different types of wee?

Just brought my guinea pigs inside for a run as it's raining, and one did a sort of opaque/ white wee and the other a clear wee. Is it a scent marking thing or is one of them ill!?

White wee is when they have a lot of calcium in their diet. Try and feed them less calcium rich veggies for a little while. If it goes on for too long they can get kidney stones, but as long as they are still peeing, there is no blood, and they aren't in pain when they pee, you're okay Smile

Thank you! What should i avoid? Is grass ok? I'm hoping for nice weather and lots of grass...

Grass is super good. Mine would go spare if I tried to limit grass! Make sure your hay isn't alfalfa hay. From memory it's dark greens that are high in calcium.

Grass (and hay) is a huge part their natural diet but introduce it slowly after a winter of no grazing . They need to build up grazing time to avoid bloat ( gas build up which can be fatal) and loose pooh.

Cloudy wee is pretty normal for pigs , you can check when its dry , it will be a powder residue , Any gritty /stone residue needs checked by the Vet . A bladder stone or kidney can block their urethra and cause pain (hunched squealing peeing) , blood stained pee , general malaise.

You need to keep an eye on the dark green veg - spinach, kale, parsely, cabbage (high in oxilates -sp)

And what they eat can colour their pee . One of my boars did a fetching peach coloured pee after red and yellow peppers. His brother did maroon droppings after beetroot. And my very first boar (when I was 9yo) took a decade off my by eating some of my sisters craft paper and peeing blue/poohing navy . We only found the cause after discovering his stash of hidden paper Grin
