What do you use as your Guinea pig cage liner please?

Had guinea pigs growing up and just used hay and straw from memory.
We had some about five years ago and did the same.

We adopted a Mum and two babies from someone who had been sold two 'females' and they are filthy!

No matter what I use it's filthy and stinks by bed time. I'm changing them and scrubbing it constantly because otherwise they would be sat in their own filth.

Seriously obviously straw and hay aren't working. I've tried that paper bedding too. Help!

We use newspaper, then a layer of carefresh bedding with hay on top. The carefresh isn't a full layer, but concentrated on where they pee. They need cleaning out every 5-7 days with our setup.

We use fleece blankets folded round old towels. Got loads of blankets cheap from a pound shop and change them every couple of days - shake out the dirty one and hot wash them weekly. Much nicer and drier than anything else we've tried.

I use thick layer of newspaper, layer of sawdust then plus hay in sleeping area. Spot clean mucky areas daily then full clean every 6 days. Bit grim tbh.

I use thick newspaper & top with hay in the sleeping area. I change it all every 3 days or more often if needed. In the open part of the hutch I use a thinner layer of newspaper & change it daily.

Thank you. Will definitely try carefresh and blankets.

Aww congratulations on your new Pig Family but yes, sows are utter middens!

At the moment I'm using cardboard as the base, puppy pads , a memory bathmat with puppy pad and newspaper on top and rough fleece .
I have those PetBags to wash them and they get hung outside to blow the stray bits off.

At the moment GP7 is off hay (injured eye) so nice thick folded fleece bed and solid hay cookies .

She can go 2 days if we flip the fleece blanket over but no longer than that . Daily is the norm for her .

Vet bed where they sleep Wink

Just an xl puppypad with sections of vetbed on top. Change every other day. Very easy and stink free.
