I'm just setting the thread now .
My pigs will allow themselves to take part in the ritual humiliation that is The Christmas Hats Photo because they know they'll get nice food .

We have a Christmassey fleece to arrange them on.

This year we have our middle aged married couple GP6 and GP7 (they got wed in late October after the death of GP8 .) Our lovely sow has long springey fur on her head and long silky hair on her body . It does make it difficult to balance the hats. Its a case of arrange guineas/poise hats/pop hats on heads/remove Hairy Trucker Hand from photo/take pictures/ guineas shake their heads ,turn round, mutter darkly about Animal Cruelty then demand those sprouts "that I know are in the fridge 'cos I saw them"

So the gauntlet has been thrown

My DS1 has RUINED Christmas by losing his Santa hat so I couldn’t sit my boys side by side for a festive photo. .

Here they are being adorable anyway. Hamlet looks like he’s smiling in that first pigture! 😍

Next year there will be piggy sized hats!

Aw! Purple household is down to one solo survivor. It’s been a bad couple of months, culminating in losing the last wife-pig this morning. Hopefully there’ll be a new friend for lonely lardy boar early in the new year.

It has put a bit of a dampener on Christmas.

That’s right 70, they were really lovely. All different and we will miss them a lot. Lardy boar seems a bit lost. He’s getting lots of extra cuddles and food though so hopefully that will keep him cheery until his new wife arrives. Have already heard from a local rescue-they’ve got one sow on pregnancy watch finishing next week (they think she isn’t or she’d be enormous by now). If they like each other she’ll be the newest purple pig. If not, she’ll be the newest purple pig living next door to him with a different friend!

Bit of drama in the EastMids household this morning. Piggies pit out to play eat parsley on the utility room floor this morning and NESSA GOES MISSING again.
We knew she was now too big to get behind the floor to ceiling cupboard we had to dismantle last time she did this but we could find her anywhere.
Me a bit weepy, DH rather annoyed, DM a bit merry .... 45 minutes later we find get in a fallen wellie boot. Her ample form crammed into the toe part. Little madam😂

Sorry to hear of your loss Purple does rather put a damper on the festivities doesn't it (Squeak wrecked Christmas 2002 by pegging it Christmas Eve)

My boys got a Christmas treat of an entire bag of spinach!

I wish I’d taken video as you can’t tell that their mouths were going a million miles an hour in these pigtures. 😂.

They only managed two thirds of the bag . I honestly thought there was no limit to how much spinach/parsley/basil that they’d eat.

After 4 Christmases of declaring sprout peelings were' awful, "not for me" and the Devil's work', Sadie guinea pig in 2018 has decided she rather liked them!

Sprout peelings are evil in this house. No pig or bun over the years has deemed them edible. Currentbun tucked in to his Christmas present of a carrot 'cake' after viciously attacking the wrapping paper (no bit was left unshredded). Madampig enjoyed a salad for her dinner with everything chopped to her personal specifications.

No Christmas photo this year due to sulky animals refusing to participate and wear elf hats for 'just 3 seconds'. I wore mine all day but the furry grinches were not having it. So I've bathed them this morning as revenge
