Winter pig quarters

What do indoor pig houses have as flooring? (Inside the indoor pig house i mean).
The Girls are happily settling into their winter house, demanding food 74 times a day rather than their normal 42. Outdoors they had a sprinkling of sawdust that soaked up the wee but that’s really messy indoors. So, newspaper? Puppy pads? Will they chew them?

I have a plastic based /chrome bar topped 4x2 cage (for GP6) and a C&C for the females .

I use cardboard layers as a base (to protect their little feet) puppy pad layers , newspaper and a layer of fleece. They have cardboard boxes with newspaper and their ReadiGrass (solid hay cookies to keep them busy and less messy than loose hay)

Fleece is a pain in the bum to wash , I don't want to put it in my machine and the Laundrette won't thank me . So i'm handwashing and hanging it out . It dries really quickly on the line.
In winter I think I'll hang it in the garage to dry .

Mine don't chew puppy pads - they like their cardboard boxes at 3am but that's not to say that all piggies are as reasonable (because they are the epitome of Unreasonable and Judgey)

My elderly sow has a layer of newspaper and plenty of hay. Plus home made double thickness minky fleece pads for her to sit on. More comfy for her huge bum lump.

I am always staggered at how much waste these animals produce I know "Food In= Pooh Out" (and how we worry if they don't eat/don't pooh) but even 10 minutes after settling them in a clean cage they've ransacked it , 30 minutes later you question yourself Did I actually clean this?
