Poorly guinea pig 😥

Hey everyone.

I went out today to my guinea pigs and noticed one of my older pigs has a large mass on her belly. 😞 it literally appeared overnight and so I'm so worried it's cancer. 😥

She's booked in the vets at 10am tomorrow but I'm so worried about her.

We lost a pig to lymphoma last year and that grew rapidly, which is why I'm worried this is more that just a fatty lump.

Has any one had lumps appear that fast and it not be cancer?

I've had piggies with fatty lumps but they've been slow growing.

Does the lump feel smooth like a grape or lumpy?

Definately not an abscess?

I'm thinking more along the lines of could it be something has herniated ? Gap in the belly muscle and something pokes through. That could be quick to appear .

Good luck at the vets , crossing all the paws her Flowers

Thanks for replying! It feels smooth, it does feel like a fat lump but concerned with how fast it appeared. Yes hernia is a possibility. Hadn't thought of that!

Hope she's ok, I'm worried about her though as she's older and very slight. 😔

Thank you, hoping they have some answers for us!

How did it go?

Isitwinteryet · 04/10/2018 15:15

Hey.

Thanks for asking.

Vet didn't want to put her under to take a sample as she's 5. (And quite an old 5 if that makes sense)

She wasn't overly worried about the lump but said to keep an eye on it for the next two weeks. If it grows or she starts to get annoyed by it we'll have to remove it.
