Hi everyone, I'm thinking of getting a couple of guinea pigs and would like some advice on whether this will work or not. The issue is, we have two dogs and I'm aware that guinea pigs frighten easily.

The plan would be for the pigs to live outdoors, with their own house and covered run, a version of an aviary type set-up. Space is not an issue and we can build or adapt the housing to be right. We wouldn't have the pigs in the run when the dogs are in the garden.

I've been told that providing enough hay is adequate protection against all but the worst cold weather. Is this right?

Do you think this kind of set up would be sufficient to protect the pigs from being frightened by the dogs and is it a suitable set-up?

Thanks

Hello we just got guinea pigs 3 weeks ago and we have them indoors. We have no other pets. They seem to be constantly terrified / traumatised. They jump out of their skin everytime someone moves, a door closes, someone speaks etc. I can't imagine adding dogs to the equation... Good luck!!
