Feel totally ridiculous but I'm so heart broken had to have our little Syrian hammy put down this evening he was nearly three but had a mass in his stomach. Cried like a baby at the vets. Can't to my partner in RL about it as he thinks I'm being stupid. My DC's are going to be so upset in the morning as well when they wake up. Bear

I'm really sorry. Thanks

Flowers for you. Our pets of whatever species are loved and cherished. I've been so upset each time I've lost one. You cry and don't feel bad. RIP Rupert.

Ah bless you, it's not stupid at all. The little creature was a pet, part of your family, and you've looked after him for 3 years.

I had to have my little cat PTS in April. She was 18 (a good age) and I'd had her for 17yrs. It's always sad.

Thanks for all your kind words it's really appreciated he was very sweet and never bit - well apart from the vet today.... It was like he knew 😢 Sorry for all those of those who have lost a lovely pet 🌸

So sorry for you, does not matter he was “only” a hamster he was part of your family and you loved and cared for him for three years, I would have been devastated too, ignore people who undermine your feelings, pet lovers understand. Hope you can take comfort that you gave him a loving home Flowers

Flowers sorry for you and your dc.
I would have cried too.
How lucky he was to be so well cared for.

Aw I'm so sorry. He was a little living creature who was loved and you're not silly at all for being sad. DH might not understand, but maybe you and DC can come up with a little memorial idea for Rupert? Sending hugs Thanks

We had to have our little hammy Chica put down a couple of weeks ago. It was awfully sad - she'd been such a little character, a real showgirl!

3 years is very good going for a Syrian hammy - they don't often get past 2 years, so you must have looked after him very well.

So sorry to hear this. I bet Rupert had a great life with you. Look after yourself, it’s not easy to lose a pet especially when people don’t understand.
