Guinea pig mammary tumour - any advice?

We have a youngish nearly 2 yo female gp who has a mammary tumour next to her nipple. She’s already had a biopsy (inconclusive but the vet thought it wasn’t a good sign due to bleeding from the nipple). 2 weeks ago she had an operation to remove all the lump. It’s returned already - a new hard small lump and bleeding if you squeeze the nipple.
Don’t know what to do. Going to try and find a second opinion from an exotics vet. The coats can’t be ignored either - £350 so far, another op would be another £250, plus another biopsy would be £100.

Does anyone know if these things metastasize in guinea pigs? To make matters worse we’re off on holiday on Tuesday so she couldn’t have another op for a couple of weeks anyway.
Feel so guilty Sad, what do I do?

can you update us with how your piggie is getting on? personally i would get her checked out again and it take it from there, if it is an aggressive tumour then i would consider pallative care at home and take her back to the vet when she shows signs of starting to become uncomfortable.
i've had this problem with one ofmy girls and it is heart breaking, but sadly piggies who have closely related parents seem to be prone to lumps and tumors

Hi,
Piggy is still happy and with us. Her lump hasn’t grown and is still manageable from what I can tell. We are just enjoying her as she is and will take what comes.
Thanks for asking Smile
