She was fine yesterday but this morning her breathing was very laboured. Took her to the vet who were great and gave her antibiotics and liquid food. Got home and gave her a cuddle and thought she seemed a little perkier.

Put them back in the hutch she went downstairs onto the grass and almost immediately went over on her side and died within minutes. Her sister is hiding in the sleeping area she knows somethings up. I’ve taken her out of the run and will bury her with dc later.

Just so very sad and worried about her sister

So sorry to hear this. Pigs have a tendency to go from healthy to deceased very rapidly and there's little that can be done sadly. Did her sister have time to spend with the body? It can help them to understand what happened if they can sniff and see the body.

She'll need lots of extra fuss as she's bound to be lonely on her own. I currently have a single girl as she lost her pig husband a few weeks ago. She lives inside with us and has loads of company and attention. I keep looking for a suitable friend for her in rescues but have had no luck so far.

Ahh Sad they are reknown for going quick ( pesky little critters, it's nicer for them really that they don't suffer but its tough for the owner especially when you've done everything right and you think you've turned the corner with them)

How old is the sister piggy ?
Is she indoors at the moment?

Thank you. Dd was devestated when she came home from school to find she’d died especially as there had been no warning but at least she didn’t suffer.

Her surviving sister is doing OK she’s eating and has been outside hopping around. Dd has given her lots of cuddles. She lives outside (piggie not dd) and has always done so we are leaving her out as I think coming in would be more stressful- of the 2 our surviving Piggie is the one who has always enjoyed sitting upstairs and looking out at the world - we have lots of animals around so it’s always busy outside.

We are going to look into getting her a friend.
