Indoor bunnies - what bed?

We're getting 2 indoor bunnies next month and rather than buying a hutch, I'm going to set up a pen. I've looked in pets at home for beds/hidey holes/litter trays/tunnels etc to put in the pen but the beds for rabbits seem tiny!

Would a cat bed like this be OK?

I wouldn't recommend a soft bed like that personally, it looks cute but is VERY likely to be nibbled and will 100% be peed on within minutes. I used vet bed with my two, have to change it daily as they like peeing on it as much as they like sleeping on it! It has to have puppy pads underneath it to help soak things up.

Bunnies love peeing on soft squidgy things, little b*ggers!

Mine are free-range with their own bedroom. However, they are elderly so they don't chew and rarely leave their bedroom. They spend the majority of their time asleep.

I don't think any of the rabbits that have lived in the house have had a bed per se. One slept on top of her hutch, one under a human bed, one was caged and the current two go between under the human bed or in front of their cage. So, personally, I wouldn't bother.

I bought mine that, they ate it and peed on it, never once went inside.

They've had numerous beds over the years and never once used one.

Mine has a cardboard box (one of those that held veg at the supermarket -bit like a crate) with an old towel in. Towel is washed easily and box replaced when it's been severely chewed. Our supermarket has a huge free supply of boxes.

Having said that, he's currently in my bed, tucked up under the duvet fast asleep!

Thank you! I had pretty much gone off the idea of them after I posted!

I'll get a variety of hideaways for them and let them choose where to sleep.

Awww that's lovely (and I'm not keen on animals in my bed) DD lets the piggies in her bed, I give them warning looks about leaving 'presents' Grin

70 - the pigs are not permitted near my bed as they can't be trusted not to leave souvenirs. My DDs take them off to their beds though to watch reality TV - Madampig is a huge Made in Chelsea fan apparently! Current Bun is very well behaved and often goes to bed. He loves wedging himself upside down on top of the duvet with his legs in the airConfused

The concept of a bed never entered my mind.

My bun has a bed like that.

She has modified it somewhat. Added a window, filled it with hay and fur and given it a shabby chic edge.

It looks good. Kind of. And she clearly put a lot of effort into it.
