Sad news, Sprouts stepdad Jesse died this am. He was such a calm, gentle lovely boy, he was 4.
So poor baby sprout is now all alone.
We can’t leave him as an only Guinea do you think
There’s any likelihood sprout would accept a new baby. He’s grown loads since we got him but hasn’t got to calm, steady nature Jesse had as he’s still very young. It’s so sad 😞.
Would appreciate any advice x

Oh noooooooooo 😞
Sorry to hear about Jesse.

I am sure those with boys will be along to advise, but as a reassurance in the past we adopted a young sow as a friend for an elder sow who then subsequently died. We found the youngster (4 months or so old) a similar aged friend. All went well, but neither became dominant. Only downside was neither had an older sow to show them the ropes of living with us e.g wheeking for food etc

Thanks for your kind words he was a gorgeous boy.
That’s really good to hear, we’ve arranged to go to the breeders tomo after school to get Sprout a new friend, just hope they get on, fingers and paws crossed X

Awww Jesse Sad

It is very sad when its out of the blue but at least his last few weeks were with his new little stepson.
Poor Sprout , little lad will be all "Eh"?

Are you going to the breeder where you got Sprout from? They will hopefully have a piglet but there might be an adult who will bond , I'd let them do the bonding there if that's the case so they can assess their Pigonality
Sprout might be more accepting of a tiny piglet , he'll be going towards his terrible teens which can make them a bit unpredictable. Depends if he's going to be the bossy Alpha type.

Hugs to Sprout .

You'll need to do the whole neutralise the cage clean again, white vinegar is good to give a completely neutral smell (to them)

All paws crossed in the 70 Hog House

Thank you, excellent advice as always!
We went to the same breeder and came home with a cute little guy around 8 weeks old. The breeder let us see some of his 1 week old babies they were adorable hamster sized little lively bundles.
A bit of rumble strutting to start with from Sprout after being introduced and both been very vocal but both snuggled up in their hidey house at the mo. Keeping them in the house in pop up run tips week. Will try get a photo of them both together tomorrow.
My son has called him Fizz! His poos are so teeny tiny so cute!
