We've added to our brood of pets today, have fostered 2 hedgehogs for the winter.

I've never had hogs before, when I spoke to the rescue lady (she told me she currently has 150 and is full with a waiting list for more!) she said they are pretty low maintenance, just need feeding, litter changing and weighing each day.

We've seen 1 of them, but she ran away when she saw me.

We're all quite excited well except dh who I never actually discussed it with. Whoops

Has anyone done this before, tell me about hedgehogs!

Never fostered hogs but how exciting Grin

Are they too little to hibernate?

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 12/12/2017 21:48

If this is in Scotland please tell me as I will happily host a hedgehog for the winter!

No, Yorkshire I'm afraid TrollTheRespawnJeremy. I would guess there are rescue centres for them all over tho?

Yes they are too little for hibernation 70, the lady said if they are in temps less than 18 degrees they'll hibernate and not survive.

Mine are both just over 500g, which seems little compared to my pigs (my biggest pig lady is now over 1200g, she loves her food does that gal!!!).

They are currently in my kitchen but I think I'll move them into the spare bedroom, we're hosting a few things over xmas and don't want the poor things to be too traumatised by all the noise and people.
