Two GPs out of five have died

Been out to give the Guineas some tea and fresh hay, I've been away over night but left them plenty of food and water and hay last night before o left. Two of the five of them have died. They obviously died over night, were stiff, poor things.

Am I right in thinking they are supposed to have mourning time?

Also, I am worried about the other three now, one doesn't look great tho she perked up when the fresh hay and kale went in and started eating. Are they subject to virus?

Meet Nessa. Sadie isn't too impressed. We've had Ness a month and it is like she has always been here.
She is subject to daily zealous washing by Sadie!

How odd. It has to be a bug

AtSea1979 · 27/10/2017 23:07

So my piggies have come in tonight. You lot are making me soft on them! I only bring them in when it gets below 5c!

ny20005 · 27/10/2017 23:23

We had 2 & they both died the same day. Vet said one must have got a fright & the other died a few hrs later. They were 7 😢

This is the second time today I've scrolled passed this and thought it was GP as in doctors (and been horrified). I am however sorry for your loss.

tigercub50 · 27/10/2017 23:39

micropig I thought the same!

EastMidsGPs · 28/10/2017 08:22

@micropig

A MN the GP in my username referees to doctors (or grandparents) rather than guinea pigs 😃

Ours have a little oil filled radiators , about the size of a small briefcase.
Main issue is making doubly-doubly sure the cable is out of reach of rodenty teeth.
We have a step stool which we clamp it onto and hook the cable up, but still its in the back of my mind have I put it out of reach.. ?

you've burst my bubble now, I was imagining a lovely little cottage in the country full of happy piggies running around eating fresh, organic, produce Grin

EastMidsGPs · 28/10/2017 12:43

My post didn't make sense, I am neither a doctor or grandparent. Just a guinea pig slave.

micropig · 28/10/2017 13:12

@EastMidsGPs I was hoping you'd clarify that! I have seen you on other threads and totally thought it was GPs as in doctors too (never wondered why it was plural though).

Anyway hope I've not derailed the thread. I love piggies (nothing to do with my username though, just came up with it randomly) but haven't owned any for years. Planning to get done as soon as I get a garden though, I miss their squeaking.

Have had a similar situation (possibly) to OP though as I had three rabbits die suddenly overnight, turned out it was the sudden change of weather to cold despite a very warm hutch. The piggies had been in the adjoining hutch so we took them indoors and were totally fine.
