A new member of the board

Small pets has a new face. We lost our lovely Mr Pig recently and this young Master Pig will soon be joining his lonely widows.

He's a gorgeous white and ginger boy of unknown age who was rescued from a horrible situation living with over a hundred guinea pigs who were all rescued. We reckon he's quite young looking athis nails and his boyish attitude. So far he's eaten like no pig I've ever seen before (which is saying something), squeaked at the ladies and done a fair bit of hiding. Not bad considering we only picked him up yesterday. He seems like he's very cheeky and generally a proper little character. I'm not sure what the girls will make of such a rascal. I expect they won't take much messing around from a young whippersnapper.

He's got a few more weeks of side by side living (he's recently been neutered) before he moves in. Hopefully he can sort his behaviour out first...

He's a lovely boy, and yes, he'll be a bit of a drama llama after all he's been through (bad start, rescue, neuter) then he will find calm and routine with you,

Did they tell you how long ago he was neutered? We gave Bert 4 weeks quarentine when we got him 2 weeks post neuter (so 6 weeks total) and by that time he was settled with us.
And our previous sows were lonely after GP3 so really happy to have him.

He's a handsome boy , love how he's posing on top of the hidey box . I think he'll class himself as Red Dutch (ginger/white to everyone else)

It was done mid August so they reckon he's safe by the end of September. The rescue have offered to do a bonding session. It's probably good he gets some time to settle before he turns into a henpecked husband.

The girls are very interested in him. Every time I see them one of them is nosing at his bachelor pad. So far he's still hiding quite a bit but I'm sure that won't last long. He also likes sitting on his house and surveying everything! We've weighed him and given him a little stroke which he seemed to like.

I'd forgotten what it was like having a shy newbie in the house.

Hello Masterpig! What a handsome chap he is! After his rotten start in life he'll be very excited to be living with such a devoted pig slave and having two wives. Lucky boy.

Thanks all! He is handsome. His ears are very battle scarred from his rough and tumble days in the huge herd which clearly gives him character.

Master Pig has been making a nuisance of himself this evening. I'd been worried he hadn't really done much all day except hide in his house but at 9pm he emerged and started running around, leaping in the air, trying to chew his way to the girls and is now flopped out in the middle of the hutch scoffing hay. Think this one will be lively! Going to try him in the garden run tomorrow and see what he makes of it.

Stillwaitingforsummer it's a little local place which mainly takes in bunnies and guinea pigs. They've done a great job getting him to a decent pretty lardy weight and neutering him. They tried pairing him with another male but they wouldn't get on so hopefully he'll be perfect with our girls.

I know! He's like a rocket. What's worked before is putting the carrier in the run then chasing the piggie into it. Our girls are surprisingly slippery given they are approximately the same weight as a small planet each.

How is the little boy today?
Did he manage some grazing time?
Not grazing weather here in Darkest Essex , we did a couple of plates of cut grass, I think the hogs would've sulked outside, way too grey and windy for them .

It's been miserable here today too so no grass tine. He's been sitting out this afternoon rather than hiding so that's good. Lots of squeaking now, really good eating and he's looking much less scared in general now.

Any update on MasterPig?

When we had our quarentine cage out , we could tell the other pigs were interested because there'd be a little PoohNest at the side where they sat , stalkerish-like.
