Suncream for piggies

We have a blonde GP with pale ears, our other pigs all have black ears. Once it's summer they will spend a lot of time in the garden as free range pigs, can they use suncream ?

Not sure about this. I know suncream is sometimes used on 'proper' farm pigs. I had an albino piggie and he was fine without it. As long as they can access shade, they should be okay.

A quick google has revealed that a few people do anoint their pigs ears with suncream. The general consensus is to use unperfumed stuff for sensitive skins in small amounts and to test it first by putting a tiny bit on and then monitoring the pig to check for a reaction.

Our boar has pink ears (all the others have dark)
Our Himmy was not a sunlover but we always gave sunshelter and in the brightest part of the day, fitted dark sheets over their runs.

I'd worry about them getting the cream in their eyes if they wash, or another pig grooming them and ingesting it.
Don't know if you've ever sweated suncream into your eyes but it flipping stings .
