Guinea pig mites/flees

Can Guinea pigs get Mites/Flies in their fur. My piggies are indoor piggies so only go outside in the summer, but have noticed one scratching more than normal. Can you get mites or flees?

Yes mites from the hay. Mine used to get preventative drops in their mouth from our local pet shop every three months, but as one got older this wasn't enough as he reacted badly to the mites, and had to have a couple of injections at the vets.

Yes and they make them really miserable. Easily treated but you need to make its mites. Vet trip recommended.

thankfully this is one condition that is soon cleared up with medication. imagine if your skin kept itching urgh ! hope gp is feeling better soon.
