cat has destroyed all my furniture

First time cat owner - we have had her for about a year and a half and she has systematically scratched up all my faux leather dining chairs, my linen sofa and sofa chairs and my antique rugs. I did buy this amazing scratch post but she doesn't go near it. She is also an outdoor / indoor cat so has plenty of trees to get stuck into outdoors. Can anybody advise - have no idea what to do!

Start clipping her claws so she can't dig in to the furniture? We have indoor cats and they get a lot more scratchy when their claws need doing. For the scratch post, rubbing some catnip on can help them start interacting with it/ get used to it as a fun toy and scratch spot. Also try either moving the cat to the scratch post when she starts scratching or move the scratch post in front of her favourite scratching spot. She should get the idea eventually.

Cat nip should help.
Is the scratcher accessible?
Perhaps you need a few dotted around the house.
You can also get flat cardboard scratchers to put near the rug.

Thanks Hey and Cancel. I tried catnip and she wasn't interested at all. I will try the flat cat scratcher. I was hesitant to get her nails clipper because she also goes outdoors and I wanted her to still get up trees etc but I think it might be time
