We have 2 new baby guinea pigs that we collected today. They are gorgeous, little girls, both ginger.

Dd2 proudly announced that one of them is called Ginger, so that one has a name (not that any of us can tell them apart yet). But what can I call the other one?

Our pig Ninja was jet black, so a "Black Belt" Grin (DS did Karate at the time).
I would've called him Merlin but he was already named.

How are the piggies after their first night?

YY to Amazon being your Best Friend/Worst Nemesis.
You can find nearly everything you need and want and easy delivery. But too easy Grin.

You'll be searching for piggie runs, tunnels, the odd parsley bell, treats.

(not as bad as my teen DD, she drags me off to Top Shop and Pink. My GP5 has worn the same fur coat since I got her [Wink )

Lovely gps. Love the spice theme names such as Nutmeg or spice.

LagartijaNick · 02/05/2016 09:24

Fred Astaire. I think that's compulsory.

MsMermaid · 02/05/2016 21:12

Apparently they just spent 10 mins zooming round the cage, through the tunnel, over the house, round and round. I missed it because I was putting dd2 to bed Sad

Dh wasn't that keen on getting them but he is enjoying watching them and talks to them every time he walks past. He appears to be besotted by them Grin

I have a Ginger, and her sister was Nutmeg but we called her Meggie.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/05/2016 14:42

My DSis had a guinea called Ginger (I was given the Mum, Ginger was a BOGOF Grin )

Mermaid ya know The Rules of Super Furry Animals (I can't be doing with Small Pets ) is more photos (aka Pigtures ) lots of photos to coo over.

MsMermaid · 04/05/2016 22:11

OK here are some more pigtures. They're not great pics because the piggies keep running away to hide when I get the camera out.

So far we've discovered that they produce an amazing amount of poo for such small creatures, they like tunnelling under the fleece blanket, and they love eating cabbage and dandelion leaves.

The whole family are besotted with them. Dd2 is happy to get up in the morning to help feed them, and she keeps picking grass from next door's lawn because we don't have one. Dhs chair is in just the right spot for him to have a clear view of them while he's watching TV, so he provides a running commentary about what they're up to all evening

Ha! Yes they are pooh machines (our 3 adults produce sooo much and the sows especially GP4 - bladders on legs)

The C&C cages are good, you can rearrange the sections to make new shapes and keep them interested and activated.
It confuses the bejeesus out of ours when we shift things. They pootle about going "Eh? Who sanctioned this "?

They are gorgeous girls. Enjoy them.
DH will get so besotted , he'll plant a lawn. Wink

HSMMaCM · 04/05/2016 22:34

Now Ive googled C&C cages. Thanks for that!

Ginger and ninja are great names. Grin

We're planning on trying to make a loft this weekend for them. They seem quite happy to climb on their house and run around so I think they'll cope with a ramp up to a second level.

Has anyone managed to litter train their guinea pig? I believe it is supposed to be possible. I'm thinking that would be a slightly easier way of dealing with all the poo.

Is it too late to suggest Pikachu?
