Very itchy pig

Hello,
I've got male 2 guinea pigs and one of them is itching all over every second when he's out of the cage for a run around (indoor cage).

He does itch while in the cage but not as much. Other pig hardly itches at all.

We have no other pets. They have had mites before when we first bought them but have both been treated and as the other pig isn't itching I didn't think it could be that?

I can't see any bald patches or red skin... although there are some specs on his fur a bit like dandruff.

Any suggestions as to what it could be??

Have a look on the Gorgeous Guineas Website, they have some good photos to compare.

Can you brush him lighly over a white paper to see if it anything comes off (though burrowing things wouldn't brush off, you'd need to get your vet to do a scraping of the skin)

He might just be dry and flakey with the central heating? What kind of fur do they have? What are you putting in their cage as bedding?
Maybe treat both boys to a conditioning shampoo , rinse really well and dry well. It might be all he needs.
Gorgeous Guineas have conditioning shampoo and melts (to dissolve and pour over the fur)
If that doesn't work, then consider fungal?

They have wood shavings and store bought hay for bedding, could possibly be making his skin a bit dry

I think i'll try giving him a conditioning bath, might help relieve the itch
If it doesn't improve a trip to the vets will probably be best!

piggies are really prone to mites and things like that - gorgeous guineas do some fab products but he could well need something like ivomec from the vet, so best to get him checked out.
