first grass day of the season!

The Ferniepigs are in seventh heaven today as they've finally been allowed out after months of imprisonment. They're having a short time on the lawn while the human slaves steam clean their cage (which they'll moan about because it won't smell piggy any more). Only letting them have a short time though just to acclimatise and get used to it again.

Any one else's pigs been allowed out to play?

Almost .. and then it clouded over and we daren't risk it 😕
Am not telling EastMidsGPs the Ferniepigs have been out ... they are already sulking at the substandard quality of today's cabbage

Scruffy and Ginger need to send a pig-e-mail to my hogs and they'll demand DD does scissor duty. (My piggies are Well Jel being Essex pigs)
Too marshy here, and if they go into the run, only DD can get them out again (well, not stritcly true, DH and I can but it involves moving a broomstick pole behind them to corall them forwards)

I'm hoping the Easter weekend will bring good grazing days here, mine spent the night in the Pighouse. I was worried a bit (very foggy) but not cold.
They were quite chipper this morning but obviously starved

It really tired them out. They only had 40 minutes and then came in, starving! All that fresh air made them hungry (despite their full grassy tums) so after a bit of basil, they settled down and have been snoozing ever since.

you'd think after grazing they'd be full but the effort employed in Hunting'n'Killing the grass must negate the calories from grass.

Supper and sleep. Then tomorrow they'll give you The Eyes to let them out again.

Ours have been going out off and on all winter. Only on days when it hasn't been cold or damp and they have been living in a non heated outdoor room so the change in temperature hasn't been an issue!

We did move their run today to a new patch of grass and they were most pleased!! Dh is hoping he won't need to mow if we just keep moving them!

Mine were out all day. I love watching them on grass :)

Ours hide in the pigloo then pop their heads out when they think no one is watching. It's often at twilight they go mad and race around but they've not had much outdoor time then as it's too cold.

We've been trying to train them to use the mini hutch room thing we have which goes in the run by putting herbs up the ramp. I'd like to be able to leave then out for longer in the warmer weather and know they had somewhere cosy to go if there was a sudden summer downpour and we were out but I'm not sure piggies are like that so it's unlikely to happen!!!!

No piggies but my two bunnies had their first grass day on Saturday afternoon. It was lovely to see, as soon as they hit the grass they started munching and only at the end decided to lay in the sun.

And it makes cleaning the hutch so much easier

We've moved into our 'summer quarters' of the garden shed ready for many forays outside. Today Mollie has done her best 'i have the snuffles' feigning illness act so they didn't make it out onto the grass. Hopefully they'll be there by the wheekend. Cannot wait to see Sadie play out as i suspect she has forgotten what its like.

The Fortified Pigs had run time Saturday and Sunday but quickly decided grass was best viewed from the summer house

They were braver today. I spent 3 hours gardening and God do I ache now. As I was with them they both happily sat on the grass in the run and had a good munch. They are sleeping it off now.

EastMid pigs got out to play for 30 minutes today. Sadie's white fur now has a tinge of green in places ... goodness knows what she's being doing!
She also had a few manic runs through the tunnel but then followed Mollie's lead and they spent the rest of the time just exercising their jaws ☺
Judging by the amount of poo left in the house bit of the run they've given their bowels a good workout too 🐹🐹

Our pigs' run hasn't moved since last time DH mowed the lawn so inside was long, lush grass with no chance of foxy/moggy vandalism.

We put them out for 30 minutes while we cleaned the Pighouse (with a cardboard box to sit on if they felt the cold) but they were delighted to be out
Their little locust jaws nomnomnom and GP6 Popcorned over the longer clumps of grass --most excercise he's done since,..... well since he arrived .

Then back into the Pighouse to complain "Blinking Flip, we go out for half a bloody hour and they MOVE EVERYTHING. When was this decided? "

There's no better sight than a happy pig is there ❤️❤️

EastMidsGPs spent about 2 hours playing outside in lovely sunshine day .. and devoted the whole time to vigorously munching their way through their body weight (and more) in lush grass.
Fresh air has taken its toll .. and they are both snoozing .. their cuddle time parsley virtually ignored

The 70 hogs are out in the garden while DH dutifully does some repairs in the Pighouse.
Can't stay out too long, they'll OD on grass [sigh]

DH wants to mow the lawn, pigs have given it a head start and fertilisers.

Two hours in warm sunshine ... bellies full with lush spring grass with the occasional dandelion thrown in = two very contented guinea pigs .. who've not moved from their hay nests since being returned to their cage
